Mondoro as an Annual Meeting each year.
After the Chinese New Year or TET each year Mondoro has an Annual meeting with each of our offices. This year our meeting was entitled “It’s All About Policy” as we went through the company policy item by item. We have felt that it was important that all associates of Mondoro completely and clearly understand the company policy and ensure they are following it.
This year we tried something new for our meeting in that we had part of our meeting online between the China and Vietnam Offices. This worked out well because it allowed us share ideas between the two offices and jointly review the entire company policy with all the associates.
After the general policy meeting we divided up the associates into groups of 3 to 4 people and gave each group a different exam. The exam consisted of 6 essay questions. The first 3 were general questions and the last 3 were case studies. For the essay questions some of them had quotes from famous individuals such as Henry Ford. Some of the more popular quotes that they enjoyed discussing were quotes as "Quality means doing it right when no one is looking.” or It is not the employer who pays the wages. Employers only handle the money. It is the customer who pays the wages.”
The associate teams each had half a day to formulate their answers and then they were given 5 minutes per group to answer each of their questions and were told to quote the policy in giving their answer. After each group answered the questions then the other groups had a chance to say if they thought they answered it correctly or not. We had some lively debates going on between the teams as to what their answers should or should not be and if any policy concept was missed along the way. It was exciting to see how well the associates did as they answered their essay questions as a group. In fact this form of doing an exam was so successful that we will have a review exam in 6 months time with entirely new questions to see if they understand the policies discussed. The winning team got either gift cards or money to go out to dinner.
After each of the exam sessions the offices had a company dinner. The China office went to a buffet at a new 5 star hotel that opened near our office. The highlight of this buffet was watching the live swimming show put on while we ate. The dining room had a large tank with a real mermaid swimming and an underwater water show.
In Vietnam we also went to a buffet and at this buffet the associates enjoyed eating fresh seafood and other Vietnamese and Western specialty foods. When we left the table was piled high with empty dishes!
